Junior Karly Rumsky, who will be the team's only returning
senior next spring, offered an homage to her departing
mentors, the nine graduating Lady Bison players.
There wasn't a dry eye (at least mine) in the house.
Katie gives us a "GoBison!" just as she,
Brooke & Karly had done before
the West Branch game ~
But, as these poor kids have learned over the years, I can't resist the opportunity to
throw a little Lady Bison history lesson in here too ~ So . . . .
Just before Christmas in 2008, a new girl, a sophomore, turned up to play JV Basketball.
Her name was Ana Dungan and her family had moved here while her Dad was building the
new ethanol plant. In the spring she played on the JV Softball team and the next fall, volleyball.
She had come to C.H.S. from Iowa by way of Louisiana where other ethanol plants had just been built.
I asked her at a Basketball game one night at Bradford about her previous affiliations and she told me
"I was a Comet, then a Bulldog, but see, now I'm a BISON !",
and that was the first time she struck this pose . . .
Later she and Freshmen Rachel Thompson & Lisa Ambuski (back, both C.H.S. '12)
presented their version of "GoBison!" which new Lady Bison Ana had "invented."
Notice Ana's Charles City (IA) Comets Volleyball T-Shirt.

A couple items of 2018 Season trivia ~
One of the Lady Bison's league victories was over Central High
on 4-20-18. Central ended up d6 runner-up to Philipsburg.
Lindsay Hand's Home Run vs. Punxsutawney was one of only six hits
that their pitcher Kylee Lingenfelter would surrender in the regular season.
Aspen played this season wearing
jersey #20. Prior to that she had
been #87 and always will be to
me. When the girls gave me a nice
gift at the banquet, she signed the
card "Aspen - #87."
Ana is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and is now a Mechanical Design Engineer in Georgia.
Lady Bison Volleyball at West Branch, 9-15-09. WB won in three sets (duh); Ana is #10.
Do you recognize the one WB player in the left picture?
VIDEO from that Volleyball Game, our 1st ever Lady Bison video, and you sure can tell !
