Travel PA Rt. 53 153 towards Houtzdale but don't go there. Instead, head over to PA-53 to go to
Madera, Coalport, Ashville etc. Continue on PA-53 to the intersection with Adm. Peary Hwy.
(SR2014, old-22) at Cresson but go straight across for about 7 miles through Lilly and on into
Portage. In Portage turn left onto Main St. (at the Sheetz) and go about 3/8 mile to Johnson
Ave. About 6 blocks up - almost STRAIGHT UP Johnson is the Portage H.S. and the field is
around back. Last season I was talking to a very friendly local gentleman and he told me you
can get up to the school on Mountain Ave. which, despite its name, is not as steep as Johnson.

The total trip is about 61 miles from Clearfield and should take you around 1-1/2 hours.
If you're not into PA-53 you can alternately go to Altoona and backtrack to Cresson via
US-22 (W) and while a little farther it doesn't seem to really add a whole lot of time.
